Fee update from 2 November 2026
From 2 November 2026, the out-of-pocket cost for a long consultation (Medicare item 36) will be $99.00.
This change helps us continue to provide the time, quality care and support needed for longer and more complex health concerns, while meeting the increasing costs of delivering general practice care. Medicare rebates have not always kept pace with the real cost of providing a consultation, which is why an out-of-pocket fee may apply.
Our appointment structure is unchanged: standard appointments are 15 minutes and long appointments are 30 minutes. The updated fee applies to all long consultations occurring on or after 2 November, including existing bookings.
